this might be a repost for you. But there have been some problems concerning this issue, so I put it up again.
And there is a surprise value in here, too. If you suddenly can win by just dropping a card or two, some opponents will get very careful. And it is very safe from destruction, too. And it gives you a chance at a degenerate deck: Risa Shore Leave (with outpost and Flute), 5 other missions, some Dilemmas, 3 Red Alerts (not tourney legal!), 15 McKnights, Picard, Data, 2 Amaries, 2 Alexanders, 4 Vekors, Jenna, 2 Genetronic Replicators, events and interrupts to taste seasoned with some card drawing ability (Kivas). (Hey Serge, I devised this before I read yours, but you had the same idea :-) )
Fill your hand with McKnights (only universal Music) and solve the Mission for 30. Then drop them all in one turn and win. Get the pattern? Just too bad there is no equivalent for the other affiliations. They have at best two (Klingon) or one (Romulan) Musician on the table, so their only use for the Flute is to prevent the Fed guy from using his.
Or, think of it as a counter for The Higher... the Fewer (as in Blue Lightning, last DOTW). I already said how ten points can hurt, but if you can get them back it is as good as if you had never lost them!
Good addition to any Fed deck, just unusable for everybody else.
