Wesley's STCCG card of the day #173

Hi, folks,

hope you are ready for the next shot of your favorite addiction:

SENIOR STAFF MEETING

Interrupt, uncommon AU.
Plays on ship with OFFICER, ENGINEER, MEDICAL, SCIENCE and SECURITY aboard, just before the initial attempt at a space mission. First Dilemma encountered is discarded.
"Standard operating procedure on starships is to call a meeting of senior officers or department heads to help find solutions to paramount problems."
Best flavor text in the game. And they want to make us believe they didn't allude to certain contract troubles ? Yes, they have to say so officially. But I am not so sure the last two words didn't just slip in that card text by pure accident.

For the game, you can play three or four of these in a pure space mission deck. You need five, sorry THREE personnel (Try Wesley, Roga Danar and Vekor!) to discard the first Dilemma at every space mission you attempt.

Your opponent cannot play more than 23 Dilemmas. At least ten of them are probably planet only. Six more get effectively removed from the game by you destroying the first Dilemma at every location. Whoops, seven left, that makes it just one Dilemma at each mission instead of two (or four, depends on your calculation).

[At least I hope this interpretation is correct. Because they never clarified what first "encountered" means. Like the first turned up or the first that is correctly seeded. Just a small difference when your opponent has six unusable Dilemmas she can slip under the missions to nullify your Meetings. But this would be against the game spirit as the Incorrectly seeded Artifact / Palor Toff combo that has already been outlawed. So let's go by the second definition of "encountered".]

That's all ? Nope! There are those Cryosatellite/Q players. You seed five carefully selected Dilemmas designed to cripple your opponent, and she just seeds a Q below it and cruises through? Play the Staff meeting on her ship and save your Q2 for that pesky Kevin Uxbridge. Of course you'd better scan the location first.

And yet another use: When your opponent has that *?'#$§ Receptacle Stones card on your key ship and you know exactly what nasties are going to strike you soon, just nullify them before they can do more damage to you than to her.

Moral: Never think a card has only one use. And don't think it's always bad to play a card that nullifies some nasty for your opponent...
