Hi, folks,

here's another cool ship:

TAMA

Ship, non-aligned, rare AU.
Range 7
Weapons 9
Shields 8
Particle Scattering Device.
Requires 1 Command (*), 1 Staff (+).
"Children of Tama. Vorath's sword raised high. Dathon, speaking first. Tama and Enterprise at El-Adrel. Tama's tears, shivering in the wind."

Hmm. We've until now seen quite a few ships with a 9, an 8 and a 7 as stats that this might already be called a pattern:

USS Galaxy (8/7/9)
IKC Vor'Cha (9/8/7)
D'Deridex (8/9/7)

So every affiliation has one, right ? Only the non-aligneds have none. Good. So this has just changed. But wait, how about the crew requirements? Don't the affiliated ships need 1 command and 2 staff ??? So it seems to me we just got a really good bang for our buck. Though 7 range is not at all that fast, it's at least faster than the Husnock, has the same weapons as that one and is easier to fly. So let's put this ship in an armada deck. Beam Dathon aboard and use the Captain's Log which gives you a nice little 7/12/11 which is now in every respect better than the Husnock except for that 1 shields and the missing tractor beam.

And the Particle Scattering Device? Prerequisite for a little event called Particle Scattering Field. Otherwise useless. So let's explore the one possi- bility left to us. Fly your Tama to a location your opponent has just beamed down most of his crew.
At 7/12/11 (with Captain's Log) you're now quite safe and can sit there and grin. Leave Dathon aboard, retrieve your other crewmembers and pursue your own business. Just keep a Q2 handy in case somebody wants to Uxbridge your Scattering Field.
