my "Dream Cards" severely lacked in one category, but this series shall not, so I've chosen a ship for today:
But of course, it's a common. So we should (unfortunately) be able to do better by using an equivalent rare or uncommon. But-SURPRISE, the Nebula class rare (Phoenix) and the uncommon (Sutherland) are actually WORSE cards!!! (I actually suppose this is an error card- they got it one place too high and wanted to make her a 7/6/7 which would fit the usual pattern of rare ships being 1-2 places better than their common counterparts.) Nonetheless, we are to play the card as printed, so let's make the best of it.
What are the uses for this ship ?
1) In fast mission-oriented decks: Play this instead of a runabout to have a nice little crewmover if your opponent plays something else than Feds. The extra shields will serve you well and it's two points faster than an Excelsior and one better than a Hood (which also need two crew). Make sure you have enough cards with command ability, though. Also an alternative to the Galaxy if your opponent plays few dilemmas and you can form small crews.
2) In Holo-Decks: The smallest ship that can use Holograms.
3) In multi-player games: Linking ship to move crew over large distances. Needs two people to fly, so you won't be carrying too many crew you don't really want to take along.
A good sideboard card.
