Wesley's STCCG card of the day #135

Hi, folks,

if you think you are still susceptible to COTD overdoses, stop reading here and continue after at least two hours. If you're already hooked, read on quickly:

PATTERN ENHANCERS

Event, common.
Plays on table. Allows your personnel and equipment unlimited beaming through atmospheric ionization or distortion fields.
"Devices which amplify transporter signals to enhance transporter beam in hazardous areas."
Another counterspell card. Nullifies two other events, and at least all of them at once. So if (and that's a big if, of course) somebody plays a deck with 5 ionizations and 7 distortion fields, you need just this one card to counter them all. Good.

On the other hand, I've already reviewed the Distortion Field, which at least has one sensible application (two of them on the same location so they will activate alternatingly), but no other even remotely intelligent use.
(And BTW, you'll totally disable the Distortion when playing your own pattern enhancers; read the card again)

Atmospheric Ionization is a legit obstacle to the standard "Mega Team" approach, but then, it only affects one location again.

So, both cards a Pattern Enhancer does counter will not see much play. As the Enhancer has no other function, you can figure out for yourself, how often you will get this to a sensible use.

To quote Lore: Put a Kev. Uxbridge in your deck instead...
