Wesley's STCCG card of the day #196

Hi, folks,

four days to the great Dream Card series... No make that three. I am in a good mood, so I'll make up for the one I missed yesterday.

Okay, he's only uncommon and he looks quite handsome. But there is more to a really good STCCG card. The big trouble with him is, he has a lot of things you can get almost as good somewhere else, with something else added to it. If you want it taken to the extreme, scratch the AU icon and add Music, Diplomacy and Honor. You get a William Riker - he even has the same attributes (8/7/7)!

What he definitely lacks is a really good skill. Navigation is okay, but unless you have close to no bridge crew, you don't need it. And if you do need some, add a McKnight or two which is common. Yes, attributes are lower, but you can compensate for that (Lower Decks!). Leadership is a little less common, but then you can build great decks without Leadership. And the OFFICER classification also is nothing to write home about. Too bad :-(

Everything he has is stuff I would consider a bonus in a personnel card but not necessarily any reason to include the card in a deck. The only thing he can serve well as is an Enterprise-C crewmember buried in a well-placed Cryosatellite.

BTW: The exact same problem applies to Will Riker, a guy who has to stay home in quite a few of my Federation speed decks. Even the three extra skills don't always put him over the line unless I need lots of support for the Leadership / Honor / Diplomacy combo.
