Wesley's STCCG card of the day #162

Hi, folks,

hope you found this one, as I had Conner post it (away on business trip :-( ) and your "author search" probably got compromised. Compromised ? As in

COMPROMISED MISSION

Mission, Space, Kli/Rom (opponent: Fed), rare AU.
35 points
Span 4
Treachery x 2 + Computer Skill + STRENGTH > 35
"Sector 2520: Rush to plug information leaks occuring from this remote border sector."
Another cool mission idea, and it fits the plot: One side tries to cover the information leaks, the other side tries to find them before that happens. However, the gameplay sux. At Strength > 35 + 3 Skills, a 40 point reward would have been the least I would have wanted to see. (I detailed a few issues ago why 35 and 40 makes such a big difference) The only thing that actually makes it playable is the fact that it is near-perfectly safe against any sneaky attempts by your opponent to steal your Cryosatellite for himself.

Why ? Well, Romulans and Klingons would need to espionage against it and then be faced with the same high requirements you have to overcome, and for a Fed crew, both a high Strength and Treachery x 2 are really unusual. So any Fed opponent would probably just go for a fast win instead and leave your mission alone. Just too bad it's not a planet. The fact that you need to waste a Cryosatellite to secure your artifact doesn't help the rating of this card whose best use is making sure your opponent won't be the first to retrieve a crucial artifact.
