Wesley's STCCG card of the day #150


Hi, folks,

again a jubilee number and I'm almost out of ideas for what to do as a soemwhat special issue, so I'll take up on an idea that recently floated around the 'net and make it into a card, namely a way to link card games:

FANTASY WORLD

Dilemma, Planet, rare AU, Dream Card.
You and your opponent each pick up a MAGIC: THE GATHERING deck and play a game, starting at 30 life. Winner of that game scores his remaining life as points. If you do not know how to play MAGIC, opponent gains 3 points. Discard Dilemma.
"Q and several others lured the Enterprise crew to worlds of magical fantasy, having them play games for the entertainment of the bored immortal."
But this would be too cheap, just starting a subgame. So where's the linking element? Here:

WORLD RIFT

Artifact, uncommon MAGIC (but distributed with STCCG/AU!), Dream Card. Casting Cost 0.
X, Tap: Put any Personnel you have in a running ST:CCG game directly into play. Use it as a creature with Toughness = INTEGRITY and Power = STRENGTH. X is the higher of the two numbers. If the Personnel is killed, remove it from the ST:CCG game, otherwise return it at end of subgame.
It has First Strike ability if CUNNING is 6 or higher.
"There's more where THAT came from"
Cool ? Sure.

Get some strong but expendable guys into your STCCG crew, then uncover the Fantasy World and produce a fast green deck with several World Rifts. Summon the big hitters as fast as you can.

Try Taurik (8/7), Chris Hobson (6/6), Korris (8/8), L'Kor (7/7), Tokath (6/6) or Movar (7/5) all of which don't have the greatest STCCG skills but are very cost-effective strikers for the subgame and you can even afford to get them terrored...

Fast 30 points, go to next location, lather, rinse, repeat.

I'd appreciate comments or (if you actually try them out) your play experiences...

You can also try other card games:

MORIARTY'S SCHEMES: Play INWO, winner gains 25 pts. "Professor Moriarty plotted against the Enterprise crew when he found out he was trapped on the holodeck."

and

TIME TRAVELERS: INWO Group card, Pwr 1, Res 1, SCIENCE, SPACE, WEIRD.
Can use his action to bring one STCCG personnel from the main game to your hand, who is treated as a Straight Government Science Personality with Pwr = STR and Res = INT and one outgoing control arrow at any position you choose.

Galactic Empires (use those ships!)

SW:CCG (obvious choice, isn't it ?)
