Wesley's STCCG card of the day #101

Hi, folks,

did you like yesterday's card ? Good. I did, too. And because I did, I opted to make a "Dream-Card" mini-series of say eight cards. Almost all of these have been suggested to Decipher and so we might see them sooner or later. Until then, have fun.

NICK HATHAWAY (*)

Personnel, Federation, rare, Dream Card.
Integrity 2
Cunning 11
Strength 13
OFFICER, ENGINEER x2, SECURITY, Biology x3, Kills one crewmember (random selection) every turn unless Empathy present. Command Star (*)
"After the utter destruction of the U.S.S. Stardust which left him as the sole survivor, Lt. Hathaway was always hanging on the edge of madness."
(*) I've changed the name of this card. Originally, it was named after a former friend of mine who almost managed to destroy our club in a fit of jealousy. His name shall remain unpublished. In my suggestion to Decipher I've made this an "Aquiel Uhnari" card.
This was less of a card than of a concept, namely to create really strong crewmembers and balance them with some kind of "casting cost" or "upkeep". An ENGINEER x2 + SECURITY combination is awesome enough, with the added Biology x3, and the Cunning and Strength he becomes way too strong. There are a handful of missions he can solve alone and more than just a few for which he requires the assistance of just one other personnel. (Vekor might come in handy.) And this is indeed one of his uses. Drop him somewhere, have him solve a mission and then he kills himself. Neat and clean. But of course, there is the other idea of keeping him around for all the abilities he has to give, in which case you need some Empathy around (even 1/2 Empathy will suffice. What ? 1/2 Empathy ? Right. That's another Dream card. [#107, and the only one I've never suggested to Decipher])

But let's assume you don't have that card #107. So we need to take a quick look around our empaths. The two Trois, Tam Elbrun and Devinoni Ral. That's all we have. Best choice would be Tam Elbrun here. Now is this worth the effort? I'd say yes it is. Tam Elbrun is not that great, but you get an overpowered Roga Danar in return. Not too bad.

Favorite combo(s):
Rating : 8.5
(again, this is only an about rating. I've used the cards only for very few games.)
